Trillium Professional is now seeking a Data Analyst in Boston, MA for a hybrid position. This is contract lasting 18-24 months. Pay is $52/hour. The BEST Program Business & Data Analyst (Financial Reporting Modernization) will work with a team comprised of BEST Program staff, agency business and technical SMEs and the new solution system integrator (SI) and product vendor to support the modernization of our financial reporting processes and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both business analysis and data analytics, with a specific focus on financial reporting, data integration, and transformation initiatives. This role will work cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Data Governance, and other stakeholders to drive process improvements, enable data-driven decision-making, and ensure the delivery of scalable, accurate financial reporting solutions. The BEST Program Business & Data Analyst (Financial Reporting Modernization) will work with the BEST Senior Data Architect and Financials Data Leads to identify reporting, dashboard and business analytics needs that will drive the configuration of standard reports and dashboards delivered through the new Financials solution. They will assist in leading requirements sessions with BEST staff, agency staff, and the system integrator and product vendor to review the reporting and analytics capabilities of the new solution and to identify available configuration options. The Business & Data Analyst will develop and maintain a list of selected configurations for each report and dashboard and work with reports/dashboard developers during configuration to assist in translating business requirements to the configured reports. The Business & Data Analyst will also participate in testing configured reports and dashboards and in organizing user testing of these items. This role is critical to modernizing CTR's financial reporting, as legacy reports built on Oracle based Business Continuity Volume (BCV) must be migrated to a new Snowflake-based data lake. The Business & Data Analyst will support data access for users in the following areas, working to improve data quality and access in the new solution: Financials: • Acquire to Retire (Capital Asset Management) • Cash Management • Cost Allocation • Debt Management • Grants Financial Management • Operating Budget Management • Order to Cash (Revenue/Accounts Receivable) • Procure to Pay (Accounts Payable) • Program Management • Record to Report (Financial Reporting) • Reporting/Analytics • Sub-fund Management • Vendor Management and Self Service Operations: • Maintenance and Warranty Management • Incident Management • Capacity Management • Availability Management • Performance Management • Security Management • Nightly Batch Jobs Management • Software Change Management and Testing • Disaster Recovery Testing and Management Specific Duties • Create inventory and analyze existing SQL queries, Stored Procedures and reports used by CTR business areas. • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand report purpose, usage frequency, and business logic. • Analyze data structures and relationships in Oracle, understand data quality rules, and map data elements to Snowflake's structure. • Validate data integrity between Oracle and Snowflake, identify discrepancies, and ensure data accuracy post-migration. • Investigate and resolve data-related issues, inconsistencies, and errors that may arise during or after the migration process • Document requirements for report redevelopment in Snowflake. • Validate output of Snowflake queries to ensure consistency and accuracy. • Support user acceptance testing and participate in training efforts. Required Skills • Strong proficiency in SQL (Oracle and Snowflake). • Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, Power Query, and Power Apps • Experience working with financial data, state or public sector systems a plus. • Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications. • Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Access, Toad, or BI platforms a plus. • Experience in Cloud Data warehouses like Snowflake and Redshift. • Well-developed system analysis skills. • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills with experience presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Experience in Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or similar iterative development methodologies. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Software as a Service cloud implementation particularly those in which legacy on premise applications have been migrated to cloud delivery options, financial transformations and/or modernization projects. In addition, understanding data architecture, data quality, and data governance practices a plus. Minimum Entrance Requirements • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related study or equivalent experience. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis and/or data analytics roles, preferably within a finance or reporting environment.
