Daily Substitute Nurse Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. General Duties
- Administers medical care for sick and injured students and employees
- Develops individual treatment plans for continuing care or observation
- Dispenses prescribed medications to students as ordered by a physician
- Provides health education to students and employees as appropriate
- Assists the school staff and/or students in understanding and managing student health issues
- Consults with other nurses, school staff, healthcare providers, parents and students on health issues as appropriate
- Obtains and files a current and complete health form and vaccination record for every student every school year
- Maintains a daily record of student interventions and coordinates reports with other Pace Academy nurses
- May be required to chaperone field trips, including overnight trips
- Refer athletics injuries to Athletic Trainer as needed for follow-up care
- Other duties as assigned

- Must bend, stoop and crouch
- May have to lift and carry 50-60 pounds with assistance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
- Current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of scoliosis, immunizations, hearing/vision screening techniques
- Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, protocols, standards of care in accordance with state policy and Nurse Practice Act
- Able to perform CPR and utilize AED machine
- Must be knowledgeable of federal, state and local laws, regulations, and/or processes as related to providing healthcare services and regarding appropriate first aid techniques
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks and apply critical-thinking skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school personnel, parents and diverse groups of people
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and integrity
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
