This position is located at Fort Drum, Middle School Teen Center.

DoD approved commissary privileges are available to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires on 31 Dec 2025.

The Fort Drum CYS Division offers a 100% childcare discount for the first child and 25% for subsequent children for CYS employees.

Duties
  • Perform duties under the guidance of the facility director. Assistance is normally available at all times. Work is reviewed based on results achieved in accordance with standards and procedures.
  • Operate the Child and Youth Services (CYS) Homework Center in accordance with applicable regulations. Assist participants in strengthening their academic and learning skills.
  • Develop linkages with parents, School Liaison Officer, other CYS Program Associates, and volunteer tutors to ensure the homework center is integrated into all program settings.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct activities based on observed needs of children/youth. Model appropriate behaviors and techniques.
  • Work with senior staff to provide instruction and training to lower-level employees. Provide input to CYS training plans. Secure supplies, equipment, and facilities.
  • Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time of appointment.
  • Require Direct Deposit and a Social Security Card.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation and Crime Control Act.
  • Must have a current health assessment, including immunizations in accordance with Army and DoD policies.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must complete annual training requirements and demonstrate competence.
  • May work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must pass employment verification (E-Verify).
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be 18 years of age at appointment.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, and stand regularly.
  • Good health and free from communicable diseases.
  • Possess and maintain a CDA/School-Age/Youth Credential or equivalent.
  • 12 months of related work experience.
  • OR

  • BA/BS degree in ECE, Elementary Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Related work experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Must be 18 years of age at appointment.
  • Physical ability to perform required tasks.
  • Good health and free from communicable diseases.
