Cyber Security Engineer - Huntsville, Alabama

The qualified applicant will support systems development, deployment, and sustainment life cycle activities, performing Risk Management Framework (RMF) security tasks related to the program software, customized OS, and network infrastructure. This includes managing a large Agile software development and lab environment. Responsibilities include cybersecurity interface with ISSOs and ISSMs, identifying software security requirements, guiding product security compliance to achieve Authority To Operate (ATO), and developing supporting documentation such as baseline configurations, STIG checklists, and POA&Ms. The role involves disciplines such as infrastructure, scripting, tools development, cyber planning, automation, information assurance, OS customization, and virtualization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain security of systems running various Linux distributions (RHEL 7-8.2, Ubuntu, CentOS 7-8), implementing RMF requirements via STIG automated tools, manual checks, NESSUS vulnerability scanner, and other DoD-approved tools.
  • Integrate GOTS/COTS products with systems, assist with integrating tactical products within test labs and development environments, maintain the information assurance posture, and develop innovative solutions to emerging problems.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) and 2 years of experience, or 5 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
    • Current security certification (e.g., Net+, Security+, CISSP).
    • Ability to obtain DoD clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
    • Up to 25% travel.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • System administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, programming, and scripting.
    • Experience with DevSecOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery practices.
    • Experience working within an Agile development environment.
    • Experience with VMWare ESXi.
    • Experience with Cisco networks, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices, static and dynamic routing, and virtual interfaces.
    • Experience integrating COTS, GOTS, and custom software in security-constrained environments.
