This position is the face of the City which requires exemplary customer service skills and professionalism. The position is responsible for processing payments of all types over the counter, through the drop box, by electronic means, by mail and over the web. Payments for utilities and all other government services are accepted by the Customer Service Representative.
Responsibilities include serving customers at the counter and processing payments for utilities and solid waste, building permits, assessments, business tax receipts, residential rental permits, garage sale permits and other miscellaneous payments. This person must be able to communicate clearly in person and on the telephone as this position handles the majority of incoming calls and returning calls in a timely manner. Must be capable of handling large sums of cash, give change, accept checks and credit card payments and perform daily balancing procedures. Responsible for signing customers in and out for utility services and solid waste, and answering questions about their accounts. Verifies and processes deposits from the library, recreation center, Police Department. Processes incoming and outgoing mail. Processes returned mail. Required to analyze and understand meter read issues and explain usage to customers. Requires a vast knowledge of specialized office processes including State Laws and Ordinances of the City. Answers questions from Title Companies and Attorney's Offices pertaining to City Liens.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include being a skilled listener with a high level of Customer Service knowledge and can remain composed in stressful situations. Above average communication skills. Knowledge in cash handling and end of day balancing procedures. Adequate keyboard and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy. Ability to establish professional relationships with customers and coworkers. Experiences in standard office procedures and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Training, certifications, and experience include graduation from High School or GED equivalent.
Special requirements include possessing a valid Florida Driver's License. Fill out a Disaster Response Survey and employee will be required to be available to work during a declared disaster.
Physical demands include sitting, stooping, standing, walking, and reaching. The job is not exposed to any significant environmental hazards. The job requires normal visual acuity, and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception and texture perception. Ability to work during emergence situations as required.
