The Custodian is responsible for maintaining assigned plant areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Duties include general cleaning, sanitation, and upkeep of workspaces, restrooms, break areas, and occasionally assisting in other departments. This role requires physical activity, attention to detail, and the use of basic cleaning tools and equipment. The position may also involve assisting in other areas such as General Assembly and operating the wash tank as needed. Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, washing, and sanitizing floors, walls, and surfaces
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms by replenishing supplies, cleaning toilets, sinks, floors, and mirrors
• Clean and sanitize break rooms and lunch areas; remove grease and marks from floors and tables
• Remove wastepaper, trash, and garbage from all assigned areas and dispose of it properly
• Clean up sand and debris in foundry areas when assigned
• Operate basic cleaning equipment such as brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and sweepers
• Monitor janitorial supply levels and inform supervisor of restocking needs
• Perform visual inspections of own work to ensure quality and safety
• Assist General Assembly by operating the wash tank or performing related support duties when not assigned to cleaning tasks
• Maintain a neat and organized work environment
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Use basic math skills for job-related tasks
• Report defective equipment, unsafe conditions, or other issues to the supervisor
• Follow all prescribed safety rules and company regulations
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand instructions and document tasks
• Basic math skills and ability to follow standard procedures
• Manual dexterity and concentrated visual attention required
• Ability to work independently and stay productive with minimal supervision

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

• Standard 8-hour workday
• Standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling for extended periods
• Lifting and moving objects weighing 10-50 pounds
• Exposure to varying temperatures - warm in summer, cool in winter
• Use of personal protective equipment (safety glasses required)
