CustodianSalary Range: $17-$19/hr 8 AM -5 PM M-Th 8 AM - 4P M Fri Full TimeLocation: Dyker Heights, Brooklyn Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The role of the Custodian position includes ensuring that the 4-floor facility is kept clean and orderly while maintaining the safety of staff and visitors. Time management is key to keeping things running smoothly throughout the workday.
- The following areas require daily attention: reception, restrooms, kitchens, and work areas. This includes sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, cleaning surfaces, glass, windows and sanitizing.
- Perform building maintenance and repairs as needed. This may include caring for equipment, plumbing and/or electrical issues, keeping supplies tidy, moving items, pest control, ordering supplies, restocking, landscaping, painting, ensuring all areas are secure, responding to work orders and alerting management to items that you are not able to repair in a timely fashion.
- Event management. This includes weekly lunches, meetings, and other events. The tasks may include set-up, serving (when necessary), and clean up.
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Snow removal when necessary. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Prior experience working in Housekeeping or Custodial capacity preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to eff ectively communicatewith internal and external customers in English.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift at least 35lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly.
