(For more information, please visit: PROGRAM SUMMARY Located at 178 Broome Street Suite 329 New York, NY 10002, CPC Little Star of Broome Street Early Childhood Center's mission is to provide a quality education program in a safe and nurturing environment for all children, regardless of their family's financial background. Little Star provides meaningful early education experiences for young learners ages 2 - 5 through a developmentally appropriate curriculum that helps all children succeed. JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Little Star of Broome Street Early Childhood Center, the part-time Custodial employee is responsible for maintaining the center premises and its equipment in clean, safe, and comfortable condition. The Custodian's schedule will be Monday through Friday from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- General Duties
- Follows individual work schedule provided by the Director to indicate specific responsibilities, and the time scheduled for them
- Cooperates in total staff effort designed to improve the center's service
- Cleaning Duties
- Sweep, mop and wax floors of classrooms, offices, halls, kitchen and bathrooms of center so that they are kept in a clean and sanitary condition
- Clean all bathrooms including fixtures, urinals, toilets, washbowls and wall tiles
- Clean stairs, walks, play yards and roof as needed
- Remove garbage and trash, clean containers
- Care for cleaning equipment used
- Keep cots clean
- Dust and wash down walls
- Clean and replace light bulbs, clean light fixtures
- Weekly and tri-monthly cleanings of range hood, if any, and its parts as required by the City Division of Fire Prevention
- Assist with food service as needed
- Keep inventory of distributed sanitary supplies as needed
- Unpack and store supplies
- Inform director of needed sanitary and cleaning supplies, repairs and replacements on cleaning equipment
- Repair and paint play equipment and furniture as needed. Make other repairs in center
- Move children's equipment to and from outdoor play space. Move large furniture indoors as indicated
- Place and pick up cots as needed
- Other related duties as assigned, consistent with the above
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:
- Previous related experience in general custodial duties, such as cleaning, repairing and painting
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to read and write to follow written work schedules
- Ability to keep simple inventory of supplies on hand as needed
- Interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative relationships with other staff, children, parents and visitors to the center
- Ability to be professional and maintain professionalism
Additional Requirements:
- Must meet all applicable federal, state, and/or city requirements to work with children in an early childhood setting, including but not limited to, fingerprint and background check clearance, and successful completion of trainings and certifications
- Must be willing to undergo annual physical examinations and submit required medical documentation
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW
- $16.50 - $16.50 per hour; 20 hours per week from Monday through Friday 4:00pm - 8:00pm
