Position Type: High School Teaching/Career & Technical Education - HS Date Posted: 6/30/2025 Location: North Pitt High District: Pitt County Schools Summary: Under the general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. Provides supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, develops, selects or modifies lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met, and maintains appropriate records and follows all policies and procedures of NCDPI and PCS. Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Education; assesses and encourages student progress, manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement. Essential Duties

• Plan, organize, and teach a competency-based CTE program in FACS curriculum.
• Provides the bridge needed by all students to deal with major societal issues such as work-and-family, health care, child and elder care, family and community violence and crime, global economics and politics, and technology usage.
• Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management
• Assist in coordination of CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state and/or national competition
• Participates in field trips to post-secondary institutes, worksites, businesses and hands-on workshops
• Assist in development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative business and technology program
• Develop community and industry partnerships for students

Students develop personal effectiveness and industry-relevant technical skills as they explore and pursue career pathways aligned to the Family and Consumer Sciences National Standards. Core areas of the FCS discipline include:

• Food Science, Nutrition, and Wellness
• Culinary

Terms of Employment: 10 months Required Degree Level: Bachelor's, Associate, or Postsecondary Culinary Arts Certificate

• Examples of Related Degrees: Family and Consumer Sciences; Youth, Family and Community Sciences; Family and Community Services, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, Nutrition, Food Science

Required Years of Work Experience for the CTE Restricted route: 2 years with Bachelors, 4 years with Associate, and 6 years with Postsecondary Culinary Arts Certificate

• Examples of Related Work Experience: cafeteria manager, food service manager, extension specialist, adult education, food scientist, dietitian, preschool/day care director, social worker, family counselor, community service manager, community health educator,chef, restaurant manager, dietitian, nutritionist, catering manager, hospitality manager, kindergarten teacher, teaching experience in this area

Notes: For foods courses, culinary courses, and courses with foods units ANSI-CFP Accredited Food Protection Manager Certification is required prior to teaching. Qualifications
