Salary Range: $49.92-$60.32/hr
Position Summary
Performs routine and some special procedure imaging. Prepares patients for procedures, assists radiologists, and ensures proper operation and care of imaging equipment. Processes images and CDs when needed. Adheres to established radiology standards of care and applies radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others. Assumes responsibility for assigned duties and areas, delivers exceptional customer service, and performs quality assurance tasks as needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Prepares and positions patients for examinations according to specific protocols, documenting images and completing required body part questionnaires.Produces high-quality technical images, reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness.Assists physicians during procedures as necessary.Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations, and notifies senior staff when supplies are low.Provides coverage during emergencies, on-call shifts, holidays, and variable shifts as needed.Maintains cleanliness of work areas and equipment; reports any malfunctions.Processes images and prints CDs if required.Performs routine office duties such as answering phones, reviewing reports, and documenting in EPIC, hospital RIS, and PACS systems.Coordinates with patient transport for pick-up or return to floors.May serve as an instructor or preceptor for new staff.Upholds professional and courteous conduct, introducing self, verifying patient identity, and explaining procedures.Provides care that meets the physical and psychosocial needs of all patient populations, including neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adult, and geriatric groups.Performs New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations.Attends staff meetings, in-services, and performs related duties as assigned.Maintains awareness of department protocols and policies, including Stroke Program, Code Gray, and contrast procedures.Education & Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography program (school or hospital-based).
- NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
- ARRT registered (RT) in Radiography (R) and/or CT certified; NMTCB (CNMT) also accepted with documented CT training.
- Must pass advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year of hire.
- Continuing education requirements per governing standards (currently 24 ECE credits over a 2-year period).
- DOH IV certification preferred or to be completed within 6 months of hire.
- BLS certification through AHA required within 90 days of hire.
- Completion of “Image Gently” and “Image Wisely” radiation dose pledges during orientation.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position ~50% of the time
- Frequent movement to access patients and perform exams
- Regular computer and office equipment use
- Direct communication with patients, requiring accurate information exchange
- Frequent patient positioning and movement assistance
- Possible exposure to chemicals used in imaging processes (refer to SDS for safety information)
