Pay Rate / Range: The budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is$85,400 - $109,416/yr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. Brief Summary of Job Duties
Under the general direction of the Director of our recently established cryogenic TEM microscopy (SB2EM) facility, we are looking for an exceptional, scientist to serve as its Facility Manager (permanent, full-time position). You will be joining the growing EM community at UC Santa Barbara, work in a stimulating academic and cultural environment within feet of the Pacific Ocean. Primary responsibilities include maintaining the day-to-day running of the facility and training of new users on SPA, MicroED, and support development for correlative light and electron microcopy (cryo-CLEM) and in situ cellular tomography efforts. Whenever applicable you will be responsible for or assist with cryo-EM sample preparation, data acquisition and (pre-)processing. Currently SB2EM hosts a Glacios2 TEM; Aquilos2 cryo-FIB iFLM, and whenever required access to a Titan Krios TEM. The facility serves users from UCSB and around for both academic and industry projects. It is estimated duties percentage be along 30% Facility Management, 25% Facility Operations, 25% Microscopy Operations, 20% Collaborator and Student Training & Safety.
