Wages: Crisis Clinician 1: $29.54 - $39.58 hr. Crisis Clinician 2: $35.83 - $48.00 hr.
General statement of duties: Crisis Clinician 2: Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provides crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to provide assessment and treatment services; crisis intervention, and treatment services, including intensive services, to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community.
Crisis Clinician 1: Plans and carries out recreational, social, and skills training activities; performs case management and counseling functions with Adults in Custody (AIC); facilitates counseling and/or skills training groups; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is case management and counseling, without responsibility for developing and implementing specific programs in the community.
Supervision received: Crisis Clinician 2 and 1: Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.
Supervision exercised: Crisis Clinician 2 and 1: Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Crisis Clinician 2 may act as Clinical Supervisor designee when needed. May assist in the supervision of practicum students and/or volunteers.
Typical Duties
Case Management & Consultation:
- Determines individual service needs and appropriateness of services for Crisis Stabilization Services and/or Brief Resource Enhancement and Support (BRES).
- Works collaboratively with individuals referred to MRSS/Navigation to develop a Multi-Disciplinary Treatment Plan (MDTP).
- Works with the Navigator (QMHA) and individuals in services to connect to community services including but not limited to benefits, community case management, community counseling, alcohol and drug programs, vocational resources, medical resources, and on-going medication.
- Works closely with Mental Health Specialists/Associates at the Marion County Jail, Adult Behavioral Health, Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC), Woodburn Crisis Center, and others to create alternatives to psychiatric hospitalization.
- Attends Crisis Stabilization Services (CSS) Team Meetings with the Navigator QMHA's, BRES Clinician, and Clinical Supervisor/Program Manager; to discuss case reviews and crisis screenings.
- Works collaboratively with community providers to complete appropriate referrals for individuals in services.
- Maintains current and up to date knowledge of, and contact with, community agencies to make appropriate referrals. Ensures individuals gain access to the services they need, and do follow-up work as needed, to make certain that their needs are being met.
Intake/Assessment:
- Screens all crisis screenings for Navigator/BRES appropriateness.
- Coordinates use of Crisis Associates and/or other QMHAs as needed for individuals enrolled in MRSS/Navigation.
- Completes Intake/Assessment for enrollment into BRES on a limited basis based on availability and/or need (as directed by Clinical Supervisor).
- Provides counseling by telephone or in-person to individuals and/or their families or concerned others. Intervene with both children and adults. You may utilize a variety of evidence-based practices as clinically indicated, which may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), Collaborative Problem-Solving (CPI), and/or Motivational Interviewing (MI).
- Performs independent assessment of mental status, diagnosis, level of functioning, dangerousness, and specific needs for service.
- Screens individuals for psychiatric hospitalization.
- Works with individuals for the creation of safety/crisis plans and suicide and self-harm risk assessments.
- Provides services in the community as needed.
Documentation:
- Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with federal, state, county, and treatment program requirements under the direction of a clinical supervisor.
- Meets performance expectations for time and billing standards.
- Utilizes current Electronic Health Record (EHR) to maintain documentation.
Miscellaneous:
- Works with a team of clinicians, associates, and clinical supervisors for clinical supervision, treatment planning, staff and departmental meetings, and training.
- Works with a team and collaborates with other team members.
- May assist with other teams/programs within BHCC based on agency needs.
- May serve as team leader.
- May represent the agency on internal or external committees as requested by a supervisor.
- May provide mental health or substance use disorders education and training to other staff.
- Provides advocacy for individual's rights, ethical considerations, needs for service and least restrictive care intervention.
- Attends monthly BHCC team meeting.
- Performs other job duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for the Position
Experience and Training:
Possession of a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy or a behavioral science field, or possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing and licensed by the State of Oregon, or possession of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and licensed by the State of Oregon; OR second year graduate students waivered as QMHP's by the Oregon Health Authority. Crisis Clinician 2 Only: In addition to the educational requirements above, the Crisis Clinician 2 must have at least one year of full-time, post-Master's degree experience in the behavioral health field. Preferences: Preference will be awarded to candidates who are LCSW, CSWA or eligible for LCSW. Qualified candidates will be eligible for licensure supervision if hired.
Auto-Promote and Special Conditions of Classification: Individuals hired as a Crisis Clinician 1 will auto-promote, as noted in Article 4 in the Marion County personnel rules, to the classification of Crisis Clinician 2 upon satisfactorily completing one-year, post master's degree, of service as a Crisis Clinician 1. (One-year of work experience is equal to 2080 hours)
Special Requirements:
- Salem Hospital Credentialing: Must possess, or obtain within 6 months of hire, Salem Hospital Privileges.
- This position provides services to monolingual Spanish-speaking individuals; therefore, fluent bilingual Spanish/English skills are required. An additional 5% will be added to the hourly wage as compensation for this skill. Finalist will be required to pass a verbal and written Standardized Spanish/English Fluency Assessment as part of the hiring process.

- Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history.
