Remote work is not available. We currently have an open position with the Behavioral Health Crisis Center in Salem, Oregon. This recruitment is for a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA), or someone who can be credentialed as a QMHA within 90 days of hire. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Provides individual and group recreational, social and skills training services under a professionally developed service plan; keeps records of persons served status; performs service plan directed case management functions under close supervision; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to assist and support other mental health professionals, without primary responsibility for a caseload. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under close supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following Provide behavioral health services to adults/children/families for individuals we serve at the Behavioral Health Crisis Center. Perform work using a person-centered, strengths-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and ethically guided approach. Skills Training
  • Provide individual and group skills training in accordance with the individualized service plan in order to move individuals toward recovery, independence, and community integration.
  • Skill training areas include activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IALDs), such as hygiene, medication management and support, grocery shopping, cooking, obtaining benefits and entitlements, scheduling appointments, transportation, social skills, community integration, development of individuals' natural supports, etc.
  • Transport individuals to appointments and resource linkage. Driving is required.
  • Provide skills training involving teaching coping skills, relaxation techniques, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Daily check-ins at the crisis respite apartments and transitional treatment beds.
Case Management
  • Provide treatment plan directed by case management to assist individuals in accessing community services, support, and housing. Case management include making referrals and coordinating with other agencies to obtain services and resources for individuals; advocacy and brokerage on behalf of client to access community resources, benefits, and entitlements; and monitoring services.
  • Participate in intra-agency and interagency case staffing for purposes of evaluation and treatment planning for individuals.
  • Assist individuals with accessing various resources such as food boxes, SNAP, grocery stores, housing, and others; as directed by a QMHP and/or clinical supervisor.
Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with Federal, State, County, and treatment program requirements under the direction of the clinical supervisor.
  • Meet performance expectations for time and billing standards.
Miscellaneous
  • Work with a team of clinicians and supervisor for clinical supervision, treatment planning, staff and departmental meetings, and trainings.
  • Participate fully as a supportive, reliable, positive, collaborative, and professional team member during the development of individual treatment planning, daily clinical team meetings, and client crisis intervention.
  • Clean crisis respite locations and/or transitional treatment beds as needed, when directed by a QMHP and/or clinical supervisor.
  • Provide backup to the front desk and/or answering the crisis line (will be logged into Touchpoint when at BHCC).
  • Must be able to drive county vehicles.
  • May respond directly in the community to provide services through the direction of a QMHP and/or clinical supervisor.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training.   • Three years relevant work experience in a behavioral health services field; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field; OR
  • Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Must possess a current Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) Qualified Mental Health Associate certification (QMHA) or register within ninety (90) days of hire, and complete in accordance with MHACBO guidelines. See MHACBO website for requirements.

    • Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history.     • Typical Work Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.

Ability to demonstrate active listening skills and interviewing techniques; establish effective working relationships with diverse individuals and foster shared decision-making with behavioral health consumers, family members, and providers; clearly convey information about behavioral and general health; exercise cultural and trauma-informed competency when linking to resources; follow directions and accept feedback in a professional manner; prepare reports and document services provided to persons served in a timely and professional manner with clarity, conciseness, and completeness; work within an interdisciplinary team; practice appropriate boundaries with consumers; recognize unsafe situations.
