Overview

Credit Reviewer (Contract) for a Financial Services client in Jersey City, NJ. Base pay range: $59.00/hr - $61.30/hr. This assignment is a CONTRACT role through Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA, Inc.). Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities
  • Promptly identify loans with actual and potential credit weaknesses.
  • Validate and, if necessary, adjust credit risk ratings.
  • Assess the adequacy of (and adherence to) internal credit policies and loan administration procedures and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participate in reviews of credit and counterparty risk across the CIB platform to detect and report on potential weaknesses in the credit approval and monitoring process. Document results of reviews, including recommendations for improvement, in written reports to senior management.
  • Cover portfolios including Corporate Banking, Project Finance, Media & Telecom, Leveraged Finance, Asset Securitization, Hedge Funds, Insurance, Banks, and Broker/Dealers.
  • Acquire a solid understanding of the reviewed activities and specific industry risks.
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, management, and controls of credit risk.
  • Perform in-depth reviews of individual credits to assess credit quality, validate the accuracy of the assigned counterparty risk ratings and loss given default rates, and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Provide thorough but succinct written credit analysis demonstrating understanding of: obligors business and structure; facilities extended; banks position in the capital structure; expected source of repayment; collateral; legal documentation; obligors financial condition.
  • Validate ratings through: understanding relevant rating methodologies and re-performance of ratings assessment.
  • Assess the quality of credit analysis performed by the business groups and the risk department and the quality of underwriting.
  • Ensure work is documented and communicated to stakeholders within an organized framework.
  • Evaluate compliance with regulatory guidelines and bank policies.
  • Evaluate complex financing transaction structures and capital markets products (including swaps, options, futures, derivatives and securitizations) and associated risks and mitigants.
  • Identify actual and potential problem exposures and evaluate the appropriateness of provisions for impaired credits, including challenging assumptions and re-performing discounted cash flow analysis when warranted.
  • Assess conformity of legal documentation and quality of supporting security (collateral).
  • Add value by raising relevant recommendations and writing quality reports in plain English.
  • Deliver clear presentations to management.
Required Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA or CPA (or equivalent) or CFA a plus.
  • 5 to 10 years of financial services work experience in credit extension, underwriting, review, or analysis.
  • Strong credit analysis skills with a solid understanding of the credit process and control. Knowledge of leveraged lending and related regulatory guidance is a plus.
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to discuss findings and make recommendations with appropriate balance of tact and professional assertion. Audience includes all levels of management, including senior management.
Preferred Skills
  • A mix of credit review, risk department, and origination experience is ideal, but significant experience in one area will be considered.
