Your Contribution

The Credit Reporting and Dispute Specialist will be responsible for responding to credit disputes, conducting related research, and maintaining accurate credit information transmitted to credit bureaus. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with lending regulations, and proper documentation. It involves communication with members, credit bureaus, third-party organizations, and internal departments. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, independent, organized, and knowledgeable of credit reporting policies and regulations. Independent judgment, effective navigation of ambiguity, ownership of tasks, and adherence to deadlines are essential.

As a vital team member, your responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures for accurate credit reporting and dispute response.
  • Investigating disputes and credit reporting complaints proactively and thoroughly.
  • Training new employees on systems and procedures.
  • Monitoring credit report statistics and generating reports.
  • Maintaining relationships with credit bureaus.
  • Analyzing dispute activity trends.
  • Developing audits and ensuring compliance with FCRA.
  • Recommending policy and process improvements.
  • Participating in system testing and procedural updates.
  • Requirements

    Candidates should have:

  • A High School diploma or GED; a bachelors degree is preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience in credit reporting/disputes or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Knowledge of consumer compliance laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in research and credit reporting software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Understanding of consumer and real estate lending.
  • Professional and courteous communication skills.
  • Compliance with LCCU education requirements.
  • Leadership qualities and ability to guide new employees.
  • Prior credit union experience is advantageous.
