Job Description :

We are seeking a highly motivated, outgoing, and creative individual with experience producing comedic, relevant, and engaging social media content to join the NYC Department of Transportation's Office of Communications as a Creative Strategist.

The selected candidate, reporting to a Creative Director, will help develop, produce, and post social media content across several channels, as well as offer support and guidance for the cohesive creative vision of other communication mediums including marketing, website, graphic design, videography & photography, and related work.

The Creative Strategist will develop fun, engaging, innovative, and creative ideas and concepts that align with the Office of Communications and agency goals, collaborating with colleagues to ensure effective execution.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop creative messaging and strategies to advance agency goals across social media channels;
  • Stay up to date on current social media trends and the agency's press initiatives;
  • Coordinate with other departments for social media content production;
  • Produce engaging video and image content highlighting departmental work;
  • Write creative and compelling copy for social media;
  • Offer guidance on copy for marketing, press, and multimedia projects;
  • Monitor and maintain the agency's social media profiles;
  • Perform other related duties.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of community work or related activities; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of relevant experience; or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience, with at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
  • Preferred Skills and Qualifications
    • Outstanding creativity and sense of humor;
    • Proven track record in developing and executing creative social media strategies;
    • Proficiency in digital communications writing;
    • Knowledge of using communication platforms to build engagement;
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
    • 2+ years of experience in creative strategy, social media, advertising, or marketing (preferred);
    • Experience with video and image editing programs (strongly preferred);
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
