Creative Director role at Book of the Month
Overview
Book of the Month is looking for a Creative Director to build and lead a world-class creative function for our growing brand. This person will manage the Creative team and internal creative processes from brief through execution across a wide variety of campaigns and assets. The candidate should be a talented writer, storyteller, or producer first, with experience leading across other creative disciplines. A social first mindset to creative and brand building is essential. The role involves collaborating with executives and teams across the business and using creative to drive positive outcomes for customers, authors, and the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of brand and performance marketing messaging and concepts that drive incremental growth.
- Create campaign concepts that go beyond the obvious to activate customers emotionally and drive BOTM's brand.
- Manage the design team in producing strong visual assets for landing pages, emails, and advertising assets.
- Lead the creation of short-form social and video assets to drive incremental spend on social media.
- Develop a network of top-tier freelancers and agency contacts to meet changing business needs.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all work by maintaining a brand book and enforcing brand guidelines.
- Oversee the creative operations function to deliver assets on spec and on time, with readiness to surge when needed.
About You / Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in roles such as: individual contributor under top leaders, campaign concept development at an agency, producing social videos/ads, or creating assets in areas like long-form video and events.
- Strong preference for candidates with a deep writing background or short-form video production experience.
- Avid consumer of culture and media; active social media content creator.
- Experience as a creative generalist with understanding of web and graphic design, design, art, photography, copy, and/or video.
- Excellent organization and time management; able to work under pressure and irregular hours when needed.
- Comfort with ambiguity and complexity and a willingness to iterate to achieve the best outcomes.
- Career-oriented with a track record of managing teams.
Salary and Location
Salary Range: $150k - $250k
