Crane Mechanic- (Lift Equipment Mechanic) Commerce, CA Hourly Pay Range: $25.00 to $48.50 (DOE) Pay Rate is based on experience, skill level and certifications:

  • Apprentice Mechanic
  • Jr. Mechanic
  • Sr. Mechanic
  • Kone Mechanic
Summary: Crane or Lift Equipment Mechanics repair and maintain overhead cranes, side loaders and chassis stackers by performing preventative and emergency maintenance. Duties include identifying problems, performing inspections, doing maintenance work, ordering, and replacing parts, running computerized tests, estimating repair costs, updating repair records, and writing technical reports.   • This position is unionized and after a 120-day probation period, you will become a union member. Employees are subject to a shift change every six months.
Crane or Lift Equipment Mechanic responsibilities:
  • Follow a checklist of inspection procedures
  • Repair and maintain overhead cranes, side loaders and chassis stackers
  • Perform preventative and emergency maintenance
  • Inspect equipment for damage or failures, perform diagnostics and repair service for equipment component failures
  • Remove and replace damaged or defective components, and operate support equipment including forklifts, man lifts and service trucks
  • Basic Welding
  • Clean the shop area and perform stocking functions
  • All work performed must be done in a safe and efficient manner

Qualifications:
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Open availability (24/7/365) available to work nights, weekends, and holidays that fall on your rotation
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Experience with maintaining heavy equipment in either the Construction, Transportation, or Intermodal Industry
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Documented successful completion of lawful post-offer, pre-employment checks including criminal background check, drug screening, and physical abilities exam.
  • Must have own tools.
Physical Job Requirements:
  • Frequent standing, walking, balancing while walking on elevated catwalks, bending, and grasping
  • Occasional sitting, kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching, lifting and the ability to lift
