GENERAL FUNCTION:

Performs duties related to the origination of residential 1st mortgage loans for branch offices and outside referrals. Meets sales and cross-selling objectives, focusing on CRA products/services for low to moderate-income individuals and areas, as well as non-profit organizations. Manages the entire mortgage process from application to closing, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and maintaining high customer service standards. Operates within the Bank's risk appetite, actively managing and reporting risks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop CRA prospects & referral contacts (realtors, builders, professional and personal contacts).
• Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage policies, procedures, loan products, processing, underwriting, and departmental guidelines.
• Conduct homebuyer seminars for CRA applicants.
• Handle employee loans and participate in related promotional activities.
• Follow protocols for escalation of exceptions.
• Complete applicant applications using Fannie Mae form 1003 on the laptop.
• Use the laptop for communication, rate access, credit reports, Loan Prospector responses, and transmitting loans.
• Collect documentation and deliver loan packages timely.
• Manage loan pipeline through to closing and complete management reports.
• Provide updates to applicants and referral sources.
• Maintain high customer service levels.
• Attend all required Consumer Lending meetings.
• This role requires SAFE Act registration via NMLS at employment.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Knowledge of conventional and government lending guidelines.
• Understanding of mortgage processing, underwriting, closing, and federal regulations.
• At least two years of mortgage lending experience.
• Established local referral sources.
• Existing mortgage sales of $1 million/month.
• Strong organizational, communication, teamwork, customer service, and computer skills.
• Basic sales skills and a desire to excel in a competitive environment.
• This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS at employment.
