This position is assigned to a pool of judges in the New York City Civil Court. Duties of a Court Attorney (Pool) include but are not limited to: conferencing cases with attorneys and pro se litigants; assisting parties in reaching settlements; conducting legal research; conferring with and advising judges on legal issues; drafting orders and legal opinions to be adopted by the court; and preparing responses to inquiries. Persons with experience in Housing Law and Housing Court are encouraged to apply.
In addition, some positions may be assigned to the Help Centers in the New York City Civil Court. Duties in the Help Center include, but are not limited to: staffing the Help Center and providing procedural information to unrepresented litigants; assisting unrepresented litigants in the use of Do-It-YourSELF (DIY) computer programs to generate court forms and information sheets; answering general questions from the public; providing forms; directing the public to the proper departments for assistance; reviewing court papers; collecting and reporting statistical information; and serving as a liaison to statewide Help Center administration.

A position will be filled in one of the following titles and will be dependent on the qualifications of the applicant selected.
Associate Court Attorney JG - 30BASE SALARY: $123,228 + $4,920 Location Pay
QUALIFICATIONS: Admission to the New York State Bar; and Five (5) years of relevant legal experience, including up to 18 months of pre-admission experience.
Senior Court Attorney JG - 26BASE SALARY: $99,490 + $4,920 Location Pay
QUALIFICATIONS: Admission to the New York State Bar; and Two (2) years of relevant legal experience, including up to 18 months of pre-admission experience.
Court Attorney JG - 23BASE SALARY: $84,659 + $4,920 Location Pay
QUALIFICATIONS: Admission to the New York State Bar; or Graduation from an accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar within 18 months of appointment.
