Founded by Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, MHS is fully endowed, ensuring that both students and staff have everything they need to succeed.

We are currently seeking dedicated married couples to serve as flex houseparents. In this vital role, you will reside in on-campus student homes, providing guidance and nurturing to a group of 8-12 students. Responsibilities include fostering a family-like atmosphere, driving students, administering medication, budgeting, and reporting.

  • Competitive salary of $44,768 per person, totaling approximately $165,000 for the couple, with free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and more

  • Unique schedule of nine days on followed by three days off, including personal time while students are at school

Qualifications:

  • Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably those from underserved settings
  • Couples must have been legally married for at least two years
  • Both spouses should be 27 years of age or older
  • A maximum of three dependent children may reside in the student home
  • Compliance with a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
  • Only specific pets allowed: fish and one approved dog
  • Valid U.S. driver's license; must be able to become certified to drive student home vans
  • Comfortable leading daily devotions and attending Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services (Note: No proselytizing)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • High integrity is essential, as all staff serve as role models for students
  • Both spouses must submit individual employment applications
