Counseling Specialist

Reporting to the Program Director, the full-time Counseling Specialist (or Family Development Coach) should have excellent communication skills, problem solving skills, be collaborative, and be interested in working to improve the quality of life for our community members.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with students to identify personal goals, strengths, and create pathways towards success; document these student assessments into required paper formats and funder databases
  • Communicate with students through phone calls, emails, and WeChat to navigate students needs, questions, follow-ups, appointments, and additional support
  • Conduct and document follow-up assessments with students post-completion of classes
  • Support administrative team with internal data management, filing, maintaining program records, scheduling make-up sessions, and communicating with instructors
  • Attend all meetings and training as required
  • Support the Adult Literacy Program and CPC with ongoing advocacy efforts

Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in social work or 3 years' case management/counseling experience

Skills and Competencies: Must be fluent in Mandarin. Fluent in Spanish also preferred. Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and time management. Must have excellent computer skills

Compensation & Benefits Overview: $26.38 - $30.22 per hour; 35 hours per week with occasional weekends and evenings.
