This is an open pool to fill part-time Counseling: Non Credit Instruction positions at any of our three colleges (Oxnard, Moorpark, and Ventura). While there is no current vacancy in this discipline, applications submitted to this pool will be kept on file for the current academic year (Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and/or Spring 2025 semesters) and may be considered if a vacancy opens within the academic year. If you have applied to previous pools in this discipline, you will need to apply to this pool to continue to be considered.WHAT YOU'LL DOUnder the general direction of a dean, a Counselor (Non-Contact/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating the attainment of their academic or vocational objectives. In accordance with the provisions of Education Code sections 87482.5, Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment.

VCCCD is committed to recruiting and employing a diverse and qualified group of administrators, faculty, and staff members who are dedicated to the success of all college students.ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Provide comprehensive academic, personal, and vocational counseling to students.- Assist students in developing their educational plans and acquisition of college survival skills.- Foster academic success to retain students.- Assist students in the selection of a course of study, major, or certificate program.- Refer students to appropriate support services, programs, resources, and other professionals based on need and eligibility for assistance.- Monitor academic progress; counsel students on academic probation.- Develop individual plans with students preparing to enter the labor market.- Identify skill training needs and opportunities for student internship, job search, work experience/work-study, and employment.- Counsel students regarding career choices, goal setting, and decision making.- Provide information on the matriculation process and program requirements at other colleges or universities.- Conduct orientation events to familiarize students with the location and function of college programs and services.- Maintain current, accurate records of counseling sessions; assist in compiling statistical data and prepare reports related to program operations, activities, and progress.- Advocate for students with special needs and collaborate with college instructors, counselors, and other campus and community resources to assist students in the pursuit of their educational goals.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCandidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. A Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family, and child counseling, or the equivalent; or possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential is required.SELECTION PROCESSIf a vacancy in this discipline becomes available at one of the campuses, the applications in this pool will be reviewed by the hiring department.   • PAY PHILOSOPHYStarting salaries for PT Faculty are based on educational achievement and relevant experience. Initial placement is within the starting salary range.
