Cost Accountant - First Call Staffing : Job Details

First Call Direct Hire is seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our Franklin, IN client's finance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting cost-related data to support management in decision-making, cost control, and profitability improvement.No relocation assistance provided, LOOKING for local candidatesCost Accountant Key Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and report on manufacturing costs (materials, labor, and overhead).
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost accounting reports.
• Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory balances.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Evaluate and recommend cost-saving initiatives across production and supply chain.
• Support the development of standard costing and ensure compliance with it.
• Maintain the integrity of cost accounting systems and cost ledgers.
• Work with operations, production, and procurement teams to track cost drivers.
• Perform product costing and profitability analysis.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.

Cost Accountant Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or 2 to 4 years of position-related experience.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, financial analysis, and inventory management.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (advanced level preferred).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
• Good communication skills to collaborate across departments.
