Responsibilities include planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, overseeing, and evaluating contract Unit Management/Correspondence efforts within the Bureau. Coordinate with various Bureau divisions, maintain liaison with Congress, judges, other DOJ components, and foreign, state, and local governments. Develop policies and provide guidance to staff working under the unit management concept. Prepare high-quality correspondence for inquiries from the public, other agencies, Congressional correspondence, and internal memoranda.
SalaryThe Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) provides eligible surplus and displaced employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for vacancies. To qualify, applicants must meet specific criteria including being well qualified (score 85 or better) and providing proof of CTAP eligibility.
QualificationsEducation: No substitution of education for specialized experience. Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, involving correctional programs, policy development, supervision, and coordination. Experience must include working effectively with inmates and staff, understanding correctional procedures, and preparing correspondence. Examples include developing policy, providing expert advice, and liaising with various agencies.

Other InformationThis position is not included in the bargaining unit. The annual rate is $156,737. Initial appointment requires a probationary period, background checks, and completion of mandatory training. The position involves geographic relocation and other conditions as specified.
