Job Title: Corporate Manager Transportation Performance
Pay is dependent upon experience and will be discussed during the consideration process.
Location and Reporting Structure: THE QUIKRETE Companies' corporate office in Atlanta, Georgia. This position is onsite five days per week and reports to the Senior Vice President of Transportation.
Overview: The Corporate Manager Transportation Performance is accountable for integrating systems, partnering with cross functional leaders, assessing risks, implementing, and evaluating processes and controls to drive continuous improvements through daily tracking, monthly metric reporting, root cause analysis to meet company and customer commitments.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Safety first mindset always; Demonstrates commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Partner with cross functional leaders and between all Quikrete operating companies to integrate systems, ensure data integrity to efficiently and effectively drive continuous improvements through daily tracking, monthly metric reporting, and performing root cause analysis.
- Evaluate market conditions, anticipate changes, work with key business stakeholders to develop actionable contingency plans to effectively mitigate risks.
- Proactively educate and communicate metrics with key stakeholders.
- Serves first as a doer, then transitions to coaching where appropriate for ongoing operational transportation excellence improvement activities.
- Effectively facilitates change by influencing at all levels.
- Proactively evaluate tools, reports, and best practices in support of transportation activities.
- Own root cause analysis for transportation issues/variances, drive corrective action plans to avoid reoccurrence.
- Manages financial readiness and understands business implications of Lean-related work, including ability to conduct transportation diagnostics and provide leadership recommendations for cost savings.
- Guides development, training, and auditing of Standard Work and ensures it is in alignment with organizational policies.
- Drive continuous improvement for transportation KPI metrics: Expediting Cost for suboptimal moves with reason codes and descriptions, Loading Efficiency (% full) by mode, asset utilization, transit times, dwell time for rail and barge, $/ton sold in total and by mode Freight to Customer (FTC), Freight to Terminal (FTT), with explained variances based upon volume, rate, source mix, mode mix, $/ton mile, external truck accessorial charges with reason codes, monthly Freight to Customer (FTC) P&L, external carrier performance metrics, internal fleet safety performance, accidents, driver coaching behaviors, internal asset utilization and associated costs, internal cost by line of business year over year.
- Support senior leaders by managing and reporting metrics and KPIs, as well as performing data mining and big data analysis to provide strategic advice on transportation performance.
- Supports other functions and/or projects as required.
Ability, Skills & Knowledge:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience Required: 5+ years' professional experience with demonstrated progressive levels of management experience.
- Safety first mindset: organized self-starter with a positive can-do attitude and a sense of urgency to meet customer commitments, strong problem-solving skills, financial acumen, lean six sigma methodology.
- Communications: Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Information must be tactful, respectful, clear, precise, and accurate. Expectation is for information to flow upward and downward throughout the organization. Build relationships with team members, internal and external customers and vendors.
- System Skills: Advanced in SAP, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI, Monday.com, system integrations.
- Must display good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.).
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening which includes physical, background check, and ten (10) panel drug screen.
- Ability to travel up to 25% as needed
