GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Managing Director is a player/coach, maintaining and growing their own portfolio while providing leadership, direction, and supervision to a team in Aerospace, Defense, and Transportation (AD&T) within CIB Banking. This team includes Directors, Principals, Associates, and Analysts. The leader ensures coordination of due diligence and workflow to ensure compliance and timely completion. This position involves soliciting participations in public debt issuance and must be approved by the Managing Director Committee.
This role is responsible for risk management, ensuring compliance with policies, and maintaining a positive customer experience. The position requires operating within the Bank's risk appetite while achieving results through risk assessment and management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage relationships to maximize profit potential based on client needs.
- Develop new business, cross-sell products, and manage the sales process in a specific geographic area for commercial real estate loans.
- Deliver value-added financial solutions to clients to enhance their business.
- Develop and mentor team members, including Directors, Principals, Associates, and Analysts.
- Maintain profitable commercial loan volume.
- Build and maintain important client relationships.
- Identify and convert businesses without primary banking relationships to Fifth Third Bank.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of all customers and their businesses.
- Underwrite credit requests, approve loans within limits, or recommend higher approvals.
- Monitor customer performance and industry trends to assess risk.
- Identify significant business opportunities.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and local market developments.
- Coordinate client-facing activities, including credit support and product offerings like Treasury Management.
- Participate in community and industry forums to expand networks and knowledge.
- Support Capital Markets by assessing securities products and collaborating with teams to serve clients.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide timely performance feedback, develop employees, recognize achievements, and ensure succession planning.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.
- 10+ years in Banking, Investment Banking, M&A, or Capital Markets.
- 8+ years of sales management experience.
- At least 3 years at the Executive Director/Director level.
- Strong credit and corporate finance skills, underwriting experience preferred.
- Excellent client relationship, marketing, presentation, and sales skills.
- Superior interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79, and 63 licenses required.
- Series 24 license required.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.

Salary Range: $119,500 - $256,900 annually
