Job Description: Summary: The Ballad Health Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for the procurement and maintenance of the pharmaceutical inventories for Ballad Health. The corporate pharmacy buyer directly assists the facility buyers with a variety of inventory management, contract compliance, and stock management responsibilities; is responsible for pharmacy computer order system support; develops and executes a strategic process for Ballad Health pharmacy related goods and services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for the analysis and procurement of a wide range of pharmaceutical goods and services • Ensures proactive maintenance of drug inventory • Monitor supplier performance and manage continuous quality improvement • Develop new supply sources when needed, in conjunction with Corporate Pharmacy Team • Identifies and develops cost savings alternatives • Ensures on-time delivery performance from our suppliers • Communicate regarding status of purchase orders and any changes • Must ensure that all materials are purchased in a timely and competitive manner to support production / operations groups • Qualify and select appropriate suppliers • Provide input to and support the implementation of local and regional sourcing initiatives including management of compliance • Coordinate contract and system compliance and track realized savings • Implement a continuous improvement cycle to realize year on year incremental improvements and cost savings • Leverage spend in the alliance to maximize benefits to all impacted sites Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of team members, external agencies, and business community. Perform other duties as required. Access to patient information may be needed to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. Adherence to Ballad Health confidentiality policies and practices is required. Requirements: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Science or Art or a minimum of 15 years experience in institutional pharmacy experience required; three years should be at a multifacility level. Competent in ordering of medications for all ages of patient. Good moral character. Familiarity with State and Federal Laws pertaining to pharmacy practice. Experience as a pharmacy technician, in inventory management, controlled substance tracking, pharmacy automation support, and sterile admixture and compounding is desired. Candidates must be motivated, with high personal integrity, a positive attitude as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities. The successful candidate must have the ability to deal with all levels of an organization and have excellent communication and customer service skills; demonstrated skills in developing strong business relationships; effective written and verbal communication skills; computer skills include MS office suite of programs; ability to organize workload and work independently; strong sense of teamwork and ability to apply principles of team building; demonstrated decision making/problem solving skills; strong negotiation skills; ability to work under pressure with short timeframes.
