Position Summary:We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Coordinator, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety. In this role, the successful candidate NYU Langone Health is seeking an experienced Trauma PI Coordinator to work in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) and Trauma Program Manager (TPM) to ensure processes are aligned with Level I Trauma Center standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons. The Trauma PI Coordinator is responsible for the identification, collection, analysis, and reporting of data and information relevant to supporting the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program. The Trauma PI Coordinator will monitor the key processes and outcomes of patient care to support quality and timely provision of such care. The PI coordinator will perform the necessary actions under the auspices of the Trauma PIPS Program to identify process/outcome issues that represent opportunities for improvement, select and perform corrective actions to address those opportunities, and document the impact of the corrective actions on the target process/outcome (loop closure). The role requires synthesis of expert clinical and management knowledge and a responsibility to remain current in the disciplines of performance and quality improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor and evaluate clinical processes and outcomes related to the quality of care provided to trauma patients from the time of injury throughout the continuum of care
• Participate in event identification, case review, and coordination of PI activities to address opportunities, promote loop closure, and enhance clinical outcomes
• Collaborate with liaison services and review literature-based best practices to develop and implement improved clinical processes and maintain PI program
• Coordinate and oversee data collection and analysis, reporting, and process improvement activities
• Foster and maintain a collaborative relationship with external agencies, Medical Staff Quality services and hospital staff, as needed, related to quality, performance improvement and safety initiatives
• Proactively educate leadership and medical staff regarding issues, guidelines and medical safety PI activities
• Oversee the collection, tracking, and benchmarking of trauma PI issues related to patient care and system development as related to Trauma Peer Review, NTDB, and TQIP
• Support Trauma PIPS Program activities by providing accurate and timely data and reports, noting new trends and issues and informing Trauma Program Leadership promptly when an issue is identified
• Assist with maintenance of trauma registry and management of staff to monitor bandwidth, quality of work product, and incorporate regular process improvement activities into workflow
• Work closely with trauma registry vendors to assure timely resolution of problems and to implement revisions and upgrades to the system as they become available.
• Actively participate in all Trauma PIPS Program meetings and events in conjunction with Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager
• Provide accurate quality and data reports for trauma program meetings and for reviews by regulatory agencies
• Attend national, regional and state conferences as required to maintain knowledge and skills base required for the role
• Perform other assigned duties as designated by the Trauma Program leadership

Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a NYS RN licensure or Physician Assistant LicensureBachelors Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant and/or 2 years clinical experience (ED and/or ICU experience preferred)Computer and database management skills are preferredExperience with performance improvement initiatives is preferred. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,710.43 - $159,925.48 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
