Coordinator Of Substance Abuse Prevention

The Coordinator of Substance Abuse Prevention is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive alcohol and other drug prevention programs and services for the student population. This role aims to promote a healthy campus environment and support student success and personal development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver alcohol and other drug prevention strategies and services.
  • Implement and sustain campus-wide health promotion practices.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on and off-campus to support a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to student health.
  • Plan, implement, and facilitate health education workshops and training programs.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and harm reduction approaches in program development.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make data-driven improvements.
  • Provide individual and group counseling and support services related to alcohol and other drug use.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of research and best practices in alcohol and other drug prevention.
  • Assist with grant writing and reporting efforts to secure funding for prevention programs.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students and offices of Center for Counseling and Accessibility Services, Community Standards, Housing and Residence Life, and other offices to provide comprehensive services to students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in substance abuse prevention or a related area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certification such as Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH).

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
