The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system includes 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes across a 2,000 square mile watershed.
The Bureau of Coastal Resilience (BCR) was created in October 2023, as part of Mayor Adam's PlaNYC strategy to address coastal flooding risks. BCR aims for a vibrant, healthy, and safe coastal environment, especially considering sea level rise, high tides, and storm surges. It develops strategic plans and manages coastal infrastructure along NYC's 520 miles of shoreline, working closely with community partners and other agencies.
BCR is seeking a Coordinator, Engineering, reporting to the Director, Engineering. The role involves developing and implementing an Operations Planning & Asset Management system, supporting coastal resilience infrastructure, and participating in design reviews and standards development. The Coordinator will also enhance BCR's performance through asset mapping and database development.
