We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook to prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals that meet residents' dietary needs and preferences. This role is essential in supporting health, wellness, and satisfaction by ensuring food is prepared safely and in compliance with California Title 22, local health codes, and internal policy standards.
As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals according to menu plans and dietary guidelines, ensuring timely meal delivery and quality presentation. This position requires strict adherence to food safety and infection control practices, including proper food handling, storage, temperature control, and sanitation procedures. You will also assist with inventory management, monitor food supplies, and report shortages or equipment issues to the Culinary Director promptly.
The Cook collaborates closely with the Culinary Director and dietary team to accommodate individual dietary restrictions, modified textures, allergies, and adaptive nutrition needs. In addition, you will maintain professional communication with residents and staff, ensuring meals reflect resident dignity and personal preferences.
To be successful in this role, candidates should have prior experience in food preparation, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or a related setting, and knowledge of special diets and safe kitchen operations. ServSafe or an equivalent food handler certification is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and meet all employment requirements, including TB clearance, health screening, fingerprint clearance, and background checks as required by California RCFE regulations.
