Description: The Cook is responsible for the timely preparation of 20-30 resident meals, in compliance with food service regulations. Responsible for ensuring appetizing, high quality meals are prepared, and cleanliness standards are followed. The part time cook works 24 hours per week, variable shifts/days,noon to 7 pm or 2p-7p.Follow recipes and preparation directions, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredientsBake, grill, steam, fry and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foodsGarnish and arrange dishes in an appealing mannerMaintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishesHandle and store ingredients and food according to health department regulationsMaintain food safety and sanitation standardsOpen, close, clean and sanitize kitchen as scheduledAssist in serving food to residents as neededRequirements:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; restaurant experience and/or training preferred. ServSafe certification required within six months of employment.Personal qualities of responsibility and dependability. Must demonstrate effective communication skills with team members, residents, and family members.Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. with proper lifting techniques and able to perform physical labor on a daily basis. Must be able to access facility and operate kitchen equipment independently.
