CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Controls Engineer V.

Location: Painted Post, NY

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Painted Post, NY

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Description

The Controls Engineer V provides senior-level electrical controls expertise for manufacturing process improvements and capital expansion projects. This role leads PLC-based automation initiatives, including design, programming, integration, and troubleshooting of robotic, PLC, and vision systems. Responsibilities include managing controls scope, supporting FAT/SAT/Plant Acceptance, and ensuring projects meet performance, safety, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

• 7+ years of experience implementing PLC-based automation in manufacturing

• Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and network configuration

• Knowledge of control theory, PID loop tuning, and safety standards

• Experience with industrial control systems (Rockwell, Siemens, OMRON) and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet)

• Strong problem-solving, systems engineering, and communication skills

Desired

• Advanced degree in related discipline

• Experience with high-level languages (C#, VB, Java, C++) and relational databases

• Familiarity with machine vision and basic project management
