Position: Controls Design Engineer

• Develop, test, install, and integrate software solutions related to custom automation, machine vision, feedback systems, robotics, and data collection and management.
• Program and integrate various off-the-shelf components (cameras, robots, sensors, motors, etc.).
• Meet project budgets and schedules.
• Coordinate progress and roadblocks with Project Managers.
• Support production during debug, commissioning, and installation.
• Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams for integration.
• Manage external suppliers and coordinate with customers to refine requirements and user interfaces.
• Support equipment deployment and service at customer sites (approx. 5% travel).

• Experience developing software for PLCs or similar devices; college experience acceptable.
• Knowledge of programming languages (VB.NET or C preferred).
• Basic understanding of HMI/GUI, PLC development, communication protocols (RS232, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, CAN bus).
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
• Experience in controls design within industrial automation or machine-building environments.
• Knowledge of programming and tuning servo motors, stepper motors, and VFD-controlled motors.
• Experience with vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, etc.) and field devices.
• Troubleshooting experience with automated equipment.
