Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

We're seeking an experienced Financial Controller to partner closely with our client's CFO and senior leadership team. You'll own the company's financial infrastructure and control environment, manage day-to-day accounting and cash activities, and deliver timely, high-quality financial reporting. As the leader of a 4-person accounting and finance team, you'll drive process efficiencies and uphold the highest ethical and technical standards.

Accounting & Operations

• Lead daily accounting functions: G/L maintenance, banking, payroll, fixed assets, leases, vendor management, AP/AR, and reconciliations
• Oversee month-end close processes, consolidations, and preparation of GAAP and cash-basis financial statements

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Manage external audits (Big 4 or equivalent quality) and ensure adherence to tax, regulatory, and ASC 842 lease accounting standards
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in partnership with management
• Analyze financial results, identify variances, and recommend action plans
• Monitor and optimize cash flow and working capital

Strategic & Transactional Support

• Support M&A, recapitalizations, refinancing, and new-unit development initiatives
• Collaborate on operational scalability via best-in-class finance systems (ERP, lease accounting, budgeting platforms)
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and finance team
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, risk management, and professional growth

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education & Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA required
• Experience:
• 7–10+ years in accounting/finance roles (Controller, Auditor, or equivalent)
• Background in multi-unit retail, restaurant, consumer, or franchise operations preferred
• Technical Proficiency:
• Strong GAAP and cash-basis financial reporting expertise
• Hands-on with ERP G/L systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred)
• Lease accounting (ProLease) and budgeting/reporting tools (Adaptive Insights) a plus
• Interpersonal & Leadership:
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proven ability to manage third parties (investors, lenders, auditors)
• Demonstrated strength in building and developing finance teams
