Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

This role will support the labor, employment law, and News talent contracts team. Working closely with the members of the group, the Contract Specialist/Paralegal will provide support and assistance on a wide range of matters relating to the drafting and administration of employment agreements, talent contracts, collective bargaining agreements, and contract and case management systems for sensitive legal matters handled by the group.

Successful candidates will be attentive and detail-orientated, possess strong organizational skills, and possess the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively. This will be an important role as we build the Labor, Employment & News Talent Contracts group for this newly-formed media company; Versant.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Independently draft and review various legal agreements with regard to a range of contractual matters and business clients

  • Assist in all pre-contract matters, such as negotiation support, gathering relevant information and agreement terms from stakeholders, and obtaining necessary approvals prior to contract execution; lead contract execution

  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

  • Assist with training and educating stakeholders on contract processes and other presentation maters as needed

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency in contract drafting and management processes

  • Process and upload contracts and correspondence into group files and databases

  • Coordinate with team on additional projects and priorities

  • Update various contract templates as needed with direction from attorneys

  • Maintain accurate and organized physical and electronic files

  • Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships across organization

  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Ability to prioritize work responsibilities

  • Familiarity with web-based case management systems

Additional Requirements

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need.

  • This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other benefits and perks.
