Responsibilities
- Manage the full contract lifecycle: pre-proposal, proposal, execution, and closeout. Evaluate subcontractor RFPs, negotiate subcontracts, identify risks, and manage modifications and change orders.
- Support multiple projects, requiring extensive knowledge of standard and non-standard construction contracts, including indemnity, insurance, waivers, liability caps, force majeure, warranties, and payment provisions. Review related documents like NDAs, purchase orders, teaming, joint venture, and rental agreements.
- Require at least 5 years of experience in-house for a construction or heavy civil infrastructure company. Must understand construction contract principles, risk mitigation, and prioritize work under tight deadlines.
Essential Functions
- Assist the Legal and Risk Team with contract negotiations, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
- Support procurement with insurance, bonds, subcontracts, and vendor agreements.
- Advise project teams on contractual risks and negotiate modifications.
- Develop risk summaries, participate in risk reviews, and support claims processes.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in legal studies, business, engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of contract management and procurement experience in construction, preferably water infrastructure.
- Proven negotiation skills and contract creation experience.
- Knowledge of subcontracting, insurance, bonds, and alternative delivery methods like CMAR, DB, CMS, and Hard Bid.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and handle sensitive, time-critical tasks.
- Excellent writing and communication skills; proficient in MS Office, especially Word and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction contract execution and compliance, including insurance.
- Experience with a national commercial construction firm or similar industry.
