We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Contracts Manager to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will support legal counsel and risk management by creating and managing contracts, claims, insurance compliance, and regulatory requirements. The role also involves ensuring MBE, WBE, and DBE compliance, adhering to federal, state, and local construction regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree; Paralegal certification.
- 3+ years experience in construction law, contracts, insurance, or compliance.
- Strong negotiation skills, including contract negotiations with subcontractors.
- Proficiency in drafting and redlining contracts.
- Knowledge of construction contracts (AIA, DBIA, custom), insurance policies, and claims.
- Familiarity with MBE, WBE & DBE regulations and compliance reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and contract management software.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and in teams in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with construction companies, general contractors, or engineering firms.
- Knowledge of public works and government contracts.
- Familiarity with litigation support and e-discovery processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Contracts & Agreements:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction agreements, including subcontracts, purchase orders, and vendor agreements.
- Ensuring contract compliance with policies, regulations, and project needs.
- Maintaining a contract database, tracking deadlines, renewals, and obligations.
Claims Management:
- Supporting the preparation and management of claims, disputes, and change orders.
- Investigating claims and gathering evidence, collaborating with project teams.
- Maintaining records and coordinating with outside counsel and stakeholders.
Insurance & Compliance:
- Ensuring adherence to insurance policies and risk management standards.
- Working with brokers and project managers on coverage and renewals.
- Monitoring compliance with insurance requirements.
MBE, WBE & DBE Compliance:
- Preparing and submitting compliance reports.
- Tracking subcontractor and supplier participation.
- Communicating with vendors for certification documentation.
- Ensuring legal compliance at all levels.
Legal Support & Administration:
- Conducting legal research on construction law and compliance issues.
- Maintaining organized legal files and documentation.
- Responding to legal inquiries and audits.
- Supporting corporate governance and legal records.
