Position Summary
The Contracts Specialist will play a vital role in supporting business operations by managing the full contract lifecycle across multiple service lines. This role requires experience in contract review, negotiation, and administration—ideally with exposure to industries such as construction, restoration, or logistics. The right candidate will balance protecting company interests with enabling growth and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Development & Review
- Draft, review, and revise contracts including MSAs, SOWs, vendor agreements, and subcontractor agreements
- Identify risks in terms and conditions and recommend revisions
- Ensure contracts align with policies, industry standards, and laws
- Review RFPs and RFQs for potential risk exposure
Contract Negotiation & Administration
- Hands-on contract negotiation and redlining (required)
- Collaborate with internal teams to secure favorable terms with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Maintain organized contract files and documentation
- Track milestones, renewals, compliance obligations, and prepare summary reports
Risk Management & Compliance
- Spot and mitigate risks in contract structures, especially in construction or service-based work
- Stay current on legal/regulatory updates that affect contracts
- Standardize templates and processes to improve efficiency
- Verify inclusion of proper insurance requirements and indemnification clauses
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with legal, finance, operations, and business development
- Provide guidance on contract interpretation and compliance issues
- Support resolution of disputes when needed
- Train staff on contract procedures and best practices
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field
- 5+ years of contract management experience, preferably in construction, restoration, or service industries
- Solid understanding of contract law and commercial principles
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and accuracy
- Excellent negotiation, redlining, and communication skills
- Proficiency with contract management systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and business judgment
Preferred Qualifications
- Paralegal or Contract Management certification (CCCM, CCMP, etc.)
- Experience with public sector or government contracts
- Familiarity with AIA or ConsensusDocs templates
- Knowledge of disaster recovery or emergency response contracting is a plus
- Multi-entity corporate environment experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
