The Contract Monitor is an integral member of the Veteran Home management team, contributing health care support and contract oversight to promote an environment of optimal living for Veterans in the State Veteran Homes. The position reports directly to the Deputy Director of Contract Monitoring and collaborates closely with vendor leadership to ensure a best-in-class experience for the well-being of Veterans and families and ensuring compliance with contract requirements and the submitted operating plan.

Responsibilities of the Contract Monitor:

  • Serve as the SCDVA On-sight Contract Monitor to ensure and promote compliance with the Contract for the Operation and Management of the South Carolina State Veterans Home. Ensure ongoing communication between Home leadership and SCDVA representatives to promote positive outcomes for the veterans and families served. Work with Home leaders and SCDVA Facilities team to ensure that the state's investment into the state home and equipment is appropriately cared for to best achieve maximum useful life.
  • Advise and support daily operations of the homes to ensure compliance with contractual agreements as well as Federal and State regulations.
  • Advise SCDVA leadership on outcomes and the technical administrative aspects of the operation of the home to include, but not limited to resident care and treatment, funding, and material utilization/requirements and records management.
  • Assist with the preparation of budget estimates/financial plans related to state veterans' homes for incorporation Into the SC Department of Veterans Affairs annual budget proposal.
  • Attend routine and special called committee meetings pertaining to resident care.
  • Other duties as assigned and as needed.

A bachelor's degree and experience that includes two years in long-term care and two years of supervisory experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes four years of professional administrative/operations level experience and two years of supervisory experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Position may require overnight travel.
  • Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.

  • Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Work is performed primarily in an office environment, but travel and field work will be required in areas where there are some risks and hazards that are known, predictable and controllable.
