Continuous Search - Journalism Instructor or Assistant Professor - University of Minnesota : Job Details

The journalism program in the Department of Communication at the University of Minnesota Duluth seeks applicants for our continuous job hiring pool to teach journalism and related courses. Preferred candidates can teach across the curriculum, including writing and reporting, media production, design, media law & ethics, and data journalism. Courses may be offered in-person, online, or hybrid. Positions are term-based; contingent on funding. Note: Being in the pool does not guarantee a contract; course offerings vary with demand and funding.

Required Qualifications:

• MA or MS in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Two years of college teaching experience, including as a teaching assistant.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or related from an accredited institution.
• Two years of college teaching experience.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups.

The Department of Communication in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences offers majors and minors in communication and journalism, serving approximately 300 students.
