Summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is highly competent as a process manager and uses a variety of skills such as project design, leadership, and management in order to ensure performance and process development. The person in this position is responsible for using principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence. This role is involved in planning, scheduling, and implementing continuous improvement activities (such as Kaizen) on the production floor of a manufacturing facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Implement and lead a phased rollout of new CI processes at each site

· Develop organization plans to ensure new CI work gets done

· Create training materials for teaching CIL/DH owners

· Be a change agent - inspire, energize others to accept change

· Conduct effective training sessions

· Develop visual aids for use by operators on production floor

· Monitor compliance against standards for systems and processes and remediate to ensure they work.

· Conduct health checks of processes and tools

· Coach, teach and mentor system owners

· Develop a CIL training program including an analysis of who is to be trained, and instructional method to be used (individual instruction, group instruction, lectures, and demonstrations)

· Measure and report on the effectiveness of training and retention methods that have been implemented.

· Other duties assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

· Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience of demonstrated superior machine operator or maintenance skills

· Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization (management, supervision, and hourly employees)

· Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred

· Ability to develop and implement programs and processes to include clear, effective training materials

· Demonstrated leadership skills

· Basic understanding of human and food safety requirements

· Basic understanding food production, maintenance and quality control

· Ability to solve basic food production equipment problems

· Ability to communicate effectively in front of diverse groups, and 1 to 1

· Effective at teaching, coaching others

· Ability to inspire and energize others with exciting vision and plans

· Ability to accept and adapt to new job requirements and pivot to a new plan

· Proficient in Microsoft Office products to include: PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Word

· Effective at planning and organizing group work activity

· Effectively utilizes the Leaning 2 Lean program

· High proficiency in in verbal and written communication skills
