Job Title: Content Taxonomy Program Manager
Duration: 6 months (contract to hire)
Location: Chanhassen, MN (MN candidates only)
Hours: 40/week
Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategically minded Content Taxonomy Program Manager to oversee digital content repositories and drive alignment between decentralized content initiatives and a global content framework. This role requires expertise in cataloging, archiving, and maintaining digital assets across the organization.
Responsibilites:
- Oversee cataloging, organization, and management of digital content assets
- Serve as the strategic liaison between content-producing teams and platform owners to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide taxonomy and schema
- Audit and map existing content assets from business teams to the global content framework
- Define, evolve, and maintain a central taxonomy and metadata model for discoverable, measurable, and reusable content
- Develop and maintain governance documentation/workflows for taxonomy updates, metadata standards, and content classification
- Identify inconsistencies or duplication in content organization; provide actionable recommendations
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Sales, Technology, Legal, Editorial, Product, Engineering, Marketing) to translate business needs into structured data solutions
- Support content lifecycle management and translation workflows across regions, languages, and platforms
- Define and track KPIs and reporting metrics related to content; surface insights to drive operations and strategy
- Train team members/stakeholders on best practices for cataloging, tagging, and managing digital assets
- Conduct ongoing content audits to ensure accuracy and relevance
- Monitor emerging trends to continuously improve the discipline
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Management, Data Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience in content management, digital asset management, product information management, taxonomy design or metadata strategy
- Proven success in cross-functional program management and stakeholder alignment
- Strong understanding of metadata structures, taxonomy principles, information architecture and content lifecycle workflows
- Working knowledge of copyright and data privacy laws
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library Science, Information Architecture or related field
- Experience with structured content systems (e.g., DITA or headless CMS platforms)
- Familiarity with localization workflows or internationalization standards
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and structured data principles
- Understanding of semantic data concepts such as linked data or knowledge graph principles
- Background working in large enterprise or matrixed organizations with decentralized content models
