If so, consider a role as a Patient Advocate at the Utah State Hospital. In this position, you'll be on the front lines, working directly with patients to protect their rights. You'll address their complaints and grievances, act as their advocate, and collaborate with treatment teams to ensure their well-being.   • Visits, counsels, and advises patients and their families.
  • Negotiates or mediates issues with internal and/or external agency representatives, and/ or concerned outside parties or their representatives. Settles or resolves issues or complaints.
  • Provides patients with information concerning rights, options, benefits, services, goals and expectations.
  • Refers patients to other available services to meet needs where appropriate.
  • Coordinates and refers services of community resources, placement providers, collateral agencies, the court, and/or other community partners with families, clients, or patients receiving services.
  • Communicates with others regarding inmate's/client's/patient's status and progress to provide education, guidance, case management and follow-up.
  • Acts as a resource to team members, participates in team and professional meetings and gives input as to needs of clients.
  • Collects and reviews patient information to determine eligibility and options.
  • Interprets, clarifies, explains and applies agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal or state laws and regulations, etc.
