The Role
Our Manufacturing, Logistics, Energy and Utilities group is looking for a Consulting Principal (Associate Director) to join our journey. We're seeking a strong IT consultant in the power generation (Utilities - Water/Electricity) domain. As a Consulting Principal (Associate Director level), you will lead a team of Consultants through client-facing engagements, manage escalations, and serve as the owner of a workstream; maintain expertise in your domain; contribute to the sales process through a mix of RPI development, client presentations, financial modeling, pricing strategy, and flawless delivery; create service offerings and/or client partner training materials; and contribute to People Care initiatives, recruiting, and mentoring. In addition to enabling consulting excellence through Cognizant's Five Pillars of Consulting Excellence (Project Execution, Expertise, Business Development, Practice Development, People Development), this role requires meeting the specific responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.
Responsibilities
- Work with clients to establish a clear connection between business goals/strategies, capability development, and implementation to achieve desired business value.
- Define product/platform strategies and solutions focused in Utilities domain.
- Understand the scope and define business requirements with the business stakeholders.
- Map business processes to identify improvements in Utilities back-office operations.
- Prepare functional use cases, detailed user stories.
- Review test plans prepared by QA team and support UAT.
- Assist in resolving scope and requirements related queries.
- Manage change requests / enhancements / features.
- Work with cross-functional teams across different time zones.
- Demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills.
- Articulate requirements with strong communication.
- Create and maintain long-term working relationships with technology teams, functional counterparts, vendors, and business partners.
Qualifications
- Ideally 12+ years of management consulting experience in the Utilities (Electric or water) domain, with at least 2 (ideally 4+) years of technology (business or technical consultative) team lead experience.
- Experience as an IT Analyst, IT Project Manager, IT Program Manager, IT Business Analysis or Product Management in the Utilities domain.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
- Proven track record of delivering successful consulting projects.
- Deep understanding of the Energy/Utility sector including market trends and challenges.
- Ability to use data analytics to drive decision-making and strategy development.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model balancing remote and in-office responsibilities.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry advancements.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
- Personal leadership and a desire to create a culture that enables exceptional outcomes; alignment with Cognizant's Core Values: Work as one, Raise the bar, dare to innovate, Do the right thing, Own it.
- Ability to travel if needed for business requirements.
- Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent relevant experience; additional certifications preferred but not mandatory.
Note: The candidate can be in Florida (Miami and Juno Beach), New Jersey, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA; we are currently hiring at multiple locations.
