ERM is seeking degreed staff level (0-2 years of experience) Consulting Associate, Civil, Environmental or Geotechnical Engineer to work in our Charleston, WV office with our technical team, delivering support services to clients in the energy, manufacturing, mining, and chemical industries across the United States. Immediate openings are available for Charleston WV, Pittsburgh PA, and Minneapolis MN, and qualified candidates nationwide will be considered. This is a remote/hybrid position with flexible working hours.

You will support projects involving site/civil design, stormwater engineering, remediation, erosion and sediment control, water management, geotechnical exploration, or related fields based on your background and interests. Services are provided locally, nationally, and globally, offering opportunities for both desktop and field work with industry leaders in power (solar, battery storage, wind, fossil fuels), oil and natural gas, electrical transmission, mining, manufacturing, and chemical sectors.

As a Staff Engineer, you will leverage your training, education, work ethic, and technical skills to support ERM's engineering team and business growth. You will collaborate with ERM's global Capital Project Delivery team and other specialists, gaining industry-best practices and participating in challenging projects. This role offers a great opportunity for a young engineer to advance their career and join a global team of environmental professionals.

Key Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical, or related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or current registration for the F.E. exam preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D, GIS, Hydraflow/HydroCAD is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to research and support report writing and field reports.
  • Relevant internship or professional experience is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable discussing project specifics and relaying information to managers.
  • Willingness to travel for field work; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Work remotely, maintaining dependable communication and scheduling.
  • Support civil and environmental projects, including fieldwork, sampling, construction monitoring, design, permit support, and report writing.
  • Develop civil/environmental designs and deliverables such as site plans, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, and technical reports.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, often in diverse locations.
  • Prepare for and execute fieldwork, collaborating with team members.
  • Follow health, safety, and risk protocols in line with ERM's standards.
