DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: Provide regional leadership, technical assistance, and staff development to ESC-20 clients in the area of services related to autism. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:JOB KNOWLEDGE Master's degree required from an accredited university. Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for special education (includes Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, LSSP) required. Three years of relevant teaching experience, including serving students with autism spectrum disorders. Knowledge of strategies to support the communication, socialization, and organizational structure for students with autism spectrum disorders. Knowledge with modifying and adapting curriculum and instruction for students with autism spectrum disorders. Knowledge of working with students with autism spectrum disorders in inclusive settings. Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness. Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners. Proficiency with standard functions with electronic applications on both mobile and traditional devices (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, G Suite, Apps) and email. Proficiency with computers (PCs and/or MACs) to include desktop management, file management and operations, and working in a network environment. Exceptions to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success. PRODUCTS/OUTCOMES Create and provide regional professional development, technical assistance, and resources that foster the educational success of students with autism spectrum disorders in the least restrictive environment. Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing support services for classroom teachers to best serve students with autism spectrum disorders. Develop, disseminate and revise resources related to best serving students with autism spectrum disorders, including communication, socialization and organizational needs. Work cooperatively with other specialists to plan support services for general education and special education teachers to best serve students with autism spectrum disorders. Evaluate the effectiveness of services for students with autism spectrum disorders and recommend changes as needed. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff to address the comprehensive needs of students with autism spectrum disorders. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom. Maintain confidentiality and security of program materials and information. SUPERVISION AND ORGANIZATION OF STAFF None. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY Participate in development, preparation, and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Posture: Prolonged sitting/standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent region-wide travel; occasional statewide/nationwide travel; exposure to low or intense illumination. Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Function within the policies and administrative procedures of ESC-20. Accept other responsibilities as assigned. Dress and groom appropriately for the ESC-20 work setting. Travel independently to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Serve at the will of the Executive Director. FUNDING The ESC-20 Special Education Program is federally funded out of IDEA-B and is implemented in compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory provisions. This position is federally funded out of IDEA-B and all duties associated with this position are allowable and allocable to the grant. Time and effort records for this position are in accordance with the requirements in the applicable Office of Management and Budget (OMB) cost principles.
