Gallagher Bassett Technical Services (GBTS) division is seeking a Construction Safety Loss Control Consultant needed on a multi-year assignment basis in the western New York State (Buffalo).

$40.00 to $60.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Site Audits jobsite walkthroughs at project location(s) .
  • Review Loss Data and Injury Logs Prior to visit to identify possible trends and ensure proper recordkeeping/posting(s).
  • Generate recommendations based upon observations incorporating the facts and applicable regulations, outlining the situation without opinion.
  • Participate in regular Safety Meetings, Project Coordination, Progress Meetings, Quarterly Stewardship Meetings and Trainings as requested.
  • Complete Surve, Audit Reports in an agreed format and deliver to Client in timely agreed upon manner.
  • Review and make recommendations on the Contractors Safety Manual, Safety Training/ Orientation and any Safety Recognition Program. Coordinate with Client, Insurance Carrier, and Contractor(s) personnel on Emergency Response, Medical Treatment and Incident Reporting Protocols and Return to Work Program Strategies.
  • Supply information concerning changes/updates/alerts in safety regulations, procedures or equipment and analyze losses, track trends and recommend corrective measures. Maintain accident statistics, computing monthly and cumulative incident rates and make available to Client upon request.
  • Investigate all fatalities, any serious project incident, potentially serious exposures or significant near miss occurrences on the project.
  • Assist with the development of site-specific emergency evacuation plans, disaster response plans and related public information programs.
  • Other safety management duties as needed or requested.
  • Required:

    • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience; 5 years related experience in Safety, Risk, or Insurance.
    • Minimum 10 -years experience in construction and safety management.
    • Minimum 5-years experience specifically in safety on schools or university projects.
    • Ability to obtain appropriate licenses and/or certifications in all states where business is conducted.
    • Safety training.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Moderate travel required, including some overnight travel. Ability to travel by automobile and aircraft and work outside or normal business hours as required.
    • Ability to perform work on varied customer properties; entails negotiating non-public access areas, climbing, lifting, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.

    Desired:

    • Bachelors Degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Fire Protection, Risk Management preferred; and certifications or ability to achieve within the first 18 months in the following are preferred: Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
