Job Overview: Search Solution Group is seeking a Construction Project Manager in Buffalo, NY, on behalf of our client, an electrical contractor providing design, engineering, construction, and maintenance services for commercial, industrial, institutional, and utility projects throughout New York State and beyond. The Construction Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of electrical construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This role is essential for managing client relationships, coordinating resources, and driving project success across multiple teams and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full project lifecycle from scope definition through closeout, ensuring compliance with budgets, schedules, and specifications
- Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with clients, construction managers, and other trades to achieve milestones
- Oversee project staffing and ensure crews have the necessary tools and resources to perform tasks safely and efficiently
- Interpret contract documents, prepare accurate cost estimates, manage change orders, and track committed and actual costs
- Process invoices and manage subcontract agreements for vendors and external contractors
- Serve as the primary client point of contact, providing updates, managing RFIs, and handling project inquiries
- Promote the company's full portfolio of services and identify opportunities for additional business
- Procure materials for just-in-time delivery, resolve logistics challenges, and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors
- Conduct field walk-downs to verify conditions, monitor progress, and address project execution issues
- Ensure compliance with IBEW rules, NEC, OSHA, and all applicable local, state, and federal codes
- Collaborate with field foremen, project teams, and internal divisions to ensure seamless project delivery
- Track project progress, including materials, manhours, and lost time, and prepare reports to support project decision-making
- Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts to optimize project execution
Requirements include:Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent professional experience considered
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the electrical construction industry, preferably with commercial or industrial projects
- Field experience as a foreman or similar role coordinating construction management highly desirable
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of project scheduling, cost estimation, takeoffs, change orders, and contract management
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and project management software (e.g., Foundation, Procore, or similar)
- Familiarity with electrical materials, tools, and equipment used in commercial construction
Certifications:
- Journeyman or Master Electrician's license, CSP, or CUSP certification a plus but not required
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of NEC, industry standards, and applicable local codes for electrical installations
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for construction and electrical projects
